Visa application requirements
ATTENTION!
VISA APPLICATIONS REQUIRE PRIOR BOOKING VIA E-CONSULAR. THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION MAY BE PRESENTED DIRECTLY AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL, BETWEEN 9:00 AM AND 11:00 AM, FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY, EXCEPT HOLIDAYS.
Consular jurisdiction for visa application: the Consulate of Brazil in Mumbai preferably receives visa applications from residents of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, regardless of nationality.
Please also bear in mind that refunds of visa fees of non processed visa requests can only be made to Indian accounts. In case of doubts, please contact us before making a payment.
Applicants must refrain from sending documents by email, unless requested to do so by the Consulate.
In order to lodge a visa application:
1) Fill out the online form and upload into the application all the necessary supporting documents for the visa type for which you are applying;
2) Pay the corresponding visa processing fee (fees and method of payment);
All the original documents must be presented by the applicant/agent at the Consulate, in addition to the form (filled in and signed, with a passport-style photo compliant with ICAO requirements taken in the last 6 months). The Consulate may request additional information/documentation or an interview with the applicant, as deemed necessary.
If presented by an agent, s/he must show her/his Aadhaar card and the authority letter signed by the applicant, both original.
DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED:
- Online visa application form (filled in and signed, with a passport-style photo as mentioned above);
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months, at least 2 blank pages): pages 2 (basic information) and 63 (relatives and address);
- Visa fee receipt (containing name, date, amount and reference number);
- Covering letters: personal and from the company (containing relevant information about the applicant and the intended trip);
- Invitation letter (see instructions below*);
- Air tickets and hotel bookings;
- Leave letter and day-to-day itinerary (if tourism purpose);
- Police Clearance Certificate (in case of work or other VITEM);
- Proof of financial capability (such as bank statements of the past three months, ITR and paycheck slip);
- For minors: Visa Authorization Form, signed by both parents and notarized.
All documents must be uploaded into the online visa form. Documents that are not uploaded by the applicant might be disregarded

*Instructions for invitation letters:
This document must provide detailed information, including:
- Information about the host company: name, CNPJ, business line, phone number, e-mail, website;
- Information about the signing agent: name, CPF, position, phone number, e-mail;
- Business relationship between the host company and the invited (importer, subsidiary etc.);
- Information about the invited agent: name, passport number, position, phone number, e-mail;
- Place and date the meeting shall occur;
- How the trip is being sponsored;
- Signature: if physical, the original document, notarized, must be handed in at the Consulate.
You may employ the platform for digital signatures from the Brazilian Federal Government. In this case, the pdf original version must be sent to our email address visa.mumbai@itamaraty.gov.br, for verification of authenticity.
Note: invitation letters may be in English or Portuguese.
IMPORTANT
Please note that the completion of the Visa Application Form online does not constitute submission of the visa application to the Consulate.
The visa application will only be processed once the Online Confirmation Page along with the other documents required depending on the type of the visa applied for are duly and presentially brought to the Consulate General of Brazil by the interested party or their representative.
