We want your views on our draft 2024/34 Long-Term Plan (LTP) as we look at how to meet the challenges the region faces over the next decade.

Feedback is open on the draft plan with the community conversation seeking views on six key focus areas. Your responses will shape our strategic direction and how we fund services.

These six areas are crucial to many of the work programmes we deliver including how we continue to care for freshwater, protect biodiversity, control predators, adapt to climate change and manage resources.

The LTP will enable the Council to respond to the gathering pace of regulatory reform and funding changes while ensuring work continues on improving lifestyles, supporting livelihoods and taking the region forward.

It’s your place, so have your say from 10 March to 12 April.

Community conversation

Your views on the LTP are crucial as public feedback will help determine what we prioritise and where the funding goes to ensure we keep delivering services essential to the wellbeing and future of our communities.

The six key issues we’re seeking feedback on are:

  • Improving resource management
  • Delivering on freshwater
  • Addressing climate change
  • Our approach to possum control
  • The future of Towards Predator-Free Taranaki
  • Protecting indigenous biodiversity

You’ll find full details about our strategic direction, funding and the six key issues in the LTP and Consultation Documents, which you can download below.

Details around each of the six issues can also be found by clicking the Have your say tab.

You can give feedback from 10 March to 12 April. There will be the opportunity for those who want to talk about their submissions to do so at hearings on 6 to 8 May. The finalised LTP will be adopted by the Council in June and become operative from 1 July.
