A free new wellbeing Check-In for Australian parents and caregivers of children aged from birth to 17 years.

Do you wonder about the things you can do to support your child’s wellbeing? The Check-In allows parents and caregivers to track their child's wellbeing and get recommendations to programs and resources.

The Check-In cannot diagnose a mental health problem and does not replace a clinical assessment from a health professional.

Who is the Check-In for?

Parents and caregivers of children aged from birth to 17 years, 6 months who:

  • Live in Australia.
  • Can read and fill out questions in English.
  • Can access the internet via a mobile device, tablet, or computer.
  • Care for their child at least part of the week (i.e., more than 1 day per week).

The Check-In is designed for parents and caregivers to get a snapshot of their child’s wellbeing. We designed this to be brief and easy for you to use. The Check-In will not provide a diagnosis and is not a comprehensive mental health assessment. If you are seeking a clinical assessment for your child, please speak to your child’s GP or another mental health professional.

The Check-In is designed and developed by parents and experts in child mental health.

Research-based

All recommended programs are research-based. This means that they have been tested as part of research studies to make sure they work. We are testing the Check-In as part of a research study at the University of Sydney. The only way to access the Check-In is to participate in the research study. Find out more here.

Self-guided

The Check-In is self-guided, which means you complete it in your own time and at your own pace. All of the feedback and recommendations you receive are automated. There is no contact with a health practitioner as part of the Check-In.

Personalised feedback and recommendations

Your answers to the questions on your child’s wellbeing guide the personalised feedback you receive. You can download the feedback and share it with health professionals, educators, or other caregivers if you choose to. You will also receive a list of research-backed programs, and you can decide if you want to use them.
